Battery Life
I found a story about a knee brace that generates electricity from the motion of walking both fascinating an eerie. Developed at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, the device can generate as much as 13 watts of electricity from a quick paced walk. You can read about it here.

Why eerie too? Remember that battery scene in The Matrix? Morpheus compares human to batteries and explains how many BTUs the human body produces. The machines took over and harvested humans for power. Solve two problems at once: overpopulation and oil depletion.
