Temperature Rising
This Ray gun pictured below has to be one of the most interesting military innovations in recent years. Called the Active Denial System (the military is great at coming up with names), it uses microwaves to heat the skin and cause a burning sensation.

You can see the Active Denial System in action in a test on Marines here at You Tube. There is also an interesting test on YouTube on a reporter.
Looks like a pretty effective way to disperse a crowd. And also would be very funny for fraternity pranks. Who wants to bet there is a lethal setting. 11 on the dial.....
The military has also been hard at work on building the weapon pictured below. It is called a PhaSR which should make all Star Trek fans happy. PHaSR stands for Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response. This rifle uses non-lethal laser wavelengths to impair individuals. So something like the "stun" setting on a Star Trek phaser.
Conflict is going to get quite interesting.

BTW-doesn't this look like the laser gun used in the original Star Trek pilot? Trekkies chime in on "The Cage."
